Short Story: Around the Corner - 3

     Sun rose in the next day morning, having great beauty and splendor awakened the living creatures of the earth. Arjun wore his ironed white silken shirt with regular white half pants and was getting ready to school. Mondays, he wears this uniform without fail due to the strict school management, as they watch them eyes wide open in bringing up the child with pakka discipline. He twisted his hip so that school belt revolves properly and sets in all loops. Finally he escaped from his mother by leaving half idli and some sambhar in his plate near the dining table. 

     Arjun is glad with two reasons. First thing is Ani, his old friend's admission and the next thing is the cricket match with other schools to be held sooner. He did sincere prayers to god that the match should not be conducted in SVJ School, as the master chants continuous slogans which made him irritated during his last visit to that school. " I want perffffffffect silenceeeee and dissssscipline !!!", he imitated like that master and had fun while getting out of the doors of his house. 

      Arjun sat in his dad's bullet for ten minutes travel. To his dad's surprise Arjun was very quiet during his travel with him as he was sincerely thinking about the match. "Are you ok Arjun?" he questioned Arjun to know whether he is facing any problem. Arjun was still in deep thinking and was physically absent to respond to his dad's query. "Did you complete your math homework sums?" he added by getting mere silence from his boy. Now he opened, "Nothing dad! I finished all my works and was thinking about the match" replied Arjun responsibly. Dad felt his sensible answer as he knows Arjun's interest towards cricket. Arjun waved a goodbye to his dad after meeting his classmate while entering the school campus. He shared with all his friends about Anita's return and was eagerly expecting to see her by watching the door of his classroom. Anita never came. After the regular prayer, there came a call for all the cricket coaching students. "Dear Teachers, We request you to send your class cricket coaching students immediately to the ground!". By hearing the announcement, Arjun jumped like a frog, lifting his right hand to intimate the teacher. After the teacher's nod, he ran to the ground happily with a wide smile, thinking that his class bunks started in the very first period. He gave a high-five to his other friends and saw Anita standing near the master. With shock in his eyes, he watched Anita carefully. She spoke with her master and came towards Arjun. "Hey what are you doing here Anita?" he asked by looking into Ani's expressive eyes. "Without me, how will you start for the coaching?" She questioned back Arjun and added more thoughts for his mystery. "I can't understand. What are you saying?" Arjun said. "I am added in the girl's cricket team in our school" Arjun was shocked to hear these words from her mouth and was literally dumbstruck with her answer.
